Texas is set to execute a man by lethal injection today for murdering an elderly woman in 1998. Prosecutors say Ruben Gutierrez was trying to steal $600,000 hidden in the victim's home when he stabbed her. His attorneys have asked the U.S. Supreme Court to stop the execution but otherwise it'll be the first Texas execution since February 6th. Executions in the Lone Star State were put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
