San Antonio Native Becomes First Black Chief Of A U.S. Military Branch

A San Antonio native is now the first black military service chief. The Senate confirmed General Charles Q. Brown Junior as the Air Force chief of staff on Tuesday by an overwhelming 98-0 vote. Brown is a four-star general and former combat pilot who's been in the Air Force since 1984. Prior to his new appointment, he was the head of the Pacific Air Forces. Brown is only the second black officer to serve on the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
