Another Court Defeat For Expanded Mail-In Voting In Texas

A federal appeals court is handing another setback to a move to expand mail-in voting in Texas. Judge Jerry Smith on Thursday blocked a San Antonio judge's injunction that would have allowed all Texas voters to mail in a ballot during the coronavirus pandemic. U.S. District Judge Fred Biery, a Clinton appointee, had ruled two weeks ago that fear of catching the virus was the equivalent of a disability. Smith stayed Biery's injunction during an ongoing appeal by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who points out that expanded mail-in voting would result in widespread voter fraud.
