Houston police report making more than 200 arrests downtown after the demonstration and well into the night. Most of the people arrested were reportedly throwing rocks and bottles at officers.
The body of George Floyd is expected to return to his hometown of Houston within the next week.
A memorial service for the man killed while in Minneapolis police custody will be held in Houston next week.
On Tuesday, his family marched from Discovery Green to City Hall, joined by an estimated crowd of 60-thousand people. Among them were Mayor Sylvester Turner and Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo.
