Protests turned violent in Austin Saturday night as a car was set on fire outside the Austin Police Department's headquarters downtown. Protesters had gathered through the day demanding justice for George Floyd, who died in police custody in Minneapolis.
In addition to a car being set on fire, a mattress and a dumpster at a nearby gas station were also ignited.
Earlier in the day protesters had blocked traffic on I-35 as protests spilled over onto the freeway near the police headquarters. The group also marched to city hall and to outside the state Capitol.
