Eight units of an apartment complex were destroyed in an overnight fire that was apparently sparked by a lightning strike.
The 2-alarm fire happened at the Villa Rodriguez Apartments on Salado Creek Drive near Nacogdoches Road.
Flames were shooting from the building when firefighters arrived, prompting the second alarm. More than a dozen adults and children were displaced. No one was hurt.
