An order declaring a moratorium on jury trials and jury summons in Bexar County will be in effect until at least May 15th. Administrative Judge Ron Rangel extended the order on Thursday. The order was first issued on March 16th with an expiration date of April 16th. Rangel says the order could be extended past May 15th, if necessary, or could end before that date, depending on circumstances. The judge acknowledged the moratorium will create a large docket backlog, but said public safety has to come first.
