New York City Takes Down Basketball Hoops From Public Parks

In an effort to enforce social distancing and prevent the further spread of the coronavirus, New York City just shut down all of its public basketball courts.

And to prove how serious health officials are taking the outbreak, they even removed the rims from about half of the locations to ensure games can't take place.

A Parks Department rep admitted to TMZ Sports that the move is harsh, but it had to be done and will remain that way until further notice.

"New York City is a proud basketball town and we would never remove hoops unless absolutely necessary," the person told the gossip site.
