San Antonio Zoo, Kiddie Park, and Will Smith Zoo School are temporarily closing effective Saturday, March 14, through Friday, March 20, 2020, as part of our commitment to the health and safety of our community, guests, Will Smith Zoo School students, and team members. We are following the lead and directive of our local health and government officials as a measure to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
The Zoo Train and Starbucks will continue to operate in Brackenridge Park.
“We know our community and zoo fans are most likely thinking of our animals and staff, and we are too,” said Tim Morrow, President & CEO, San Antonio Zoological Society. “Our community’s support during this time is why we are so very fortunate to consider this community part of our extended zoo family. Essential team members, including animal care teams and other selected team members, will continue working at the zoo to provide vital care to our animals and safety and security at each of our facilities. Care is at the heart of our mission, and we thank you for your understanding as we all look out for our guests, school children, community, and of course, the animals in our care. We also want to assure the community that our animals are healthy and doing well, and we continue to provide them with daily dedicated, professional care. In preparation for potential closure and supply chain interruption, we proactively ordered and have a surplus of essential food and medical supplies for our animals and will prepare contingencies and monitor our supply chain to ensure essentials remain on hand.”
In addition, San Antonio Zoo will continue to closely monitor the updates from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local government.
