NBA Suspends Season Over Coronavirus

The NBA is suspending its season because of the coronavirus. The call came after a Utah Jazz player preliminarily tested positive for the respiratory illness. The test came back shortly before the Jazz and Oklahoma City were set to play. That game was canceled. Tonight's NBA games will go on and the season will be suspended until further notice.

The NBA released a statement saying, "The NBA will use this hiatus to determine next steps for moving forward in regards to the coronavirus pandemic.

The San Antonio Spurs were set to play next on Saturday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Houston Rockets were to play on Sunday against the Portland Trail Blazers and the Dallas Mavericks were in action against the Denver Nuggets when the league made the decision and completed their game. They were scheduled to play next on Sunday against the Clippers.

While league officials have said they are not sure how long the suspension might last, with the virus continuing to spread most insiders expect it to be lengthy.
