The Democratic senator met with Iran's foreign minister in a hotel suite during an international security conference over the weekend in Germany.
Trump is questioning whether Murphy's meeting violated the Logan Act, which criminalizes negotiating with countries in disputes with the U.S. Murphy says he spoke to the Iranian official because it's dangerous not to talk to adversaries.
