Ten Years In Prison For Contractor Who Wrote Hot Checks After Harvey

A building contractor is off to prison for ten years for writing hot checks in Montgomery and Harris Counties after Harvey hit the area. Prosecutors say 36-year-old Benjamin Wood pleaded guilty on Monday in a Harris County court in exchange for the sentence, which will run concurrently with a ten-year sentence handed down by a Montgomery County court. Wood wrote about $400,000 worth of bad checks for materials and services from suppliers and subcontractors as he took on contracting jobs after the 2017 hurricane.
