The city of San Antonio is paying a hefty legal tab for its decision not to allow Chick-fil-A to open a location at the airport. Lawsuits and a federal investigation resulted after City Council voted last March to exclude the popular chicken franchise on the basis of the company's supposed "legacy of anti-LGBTQ behavior." So far, the city has spent $315,000 on legal fees. Governor Greg Abbott signed the "Save Chick-fil-A" bill to protect freedom of religion. The federal probe intends to determine whether the city discriminated against the company for "the owners' religious beliefs."
