Texas Lawmakers Look For Answers In Hearing On Mass Violence

Members of the Texas House of Representatives heard from medical professionals and survivors of August's Walmart shooting during a hearing at UTEP yesterday. The House's Committee on Mass Violence Prevention and Community Safety held the meeting in an effort to help prevent future incidents. During the meeting, David Schayer of the Center on Sexual and Family Violence said hatred and a history of domestic violence were stronger indicators of an attacker than mental illness. A group of doctors at the hearing asked for more access and funding from the committee to help understand mass shootings.
