State troopers are going to be patrolling more often near state buildings and UT in Austin. Governor Greg Abbott sent a letter to DPS today requesting the increased presence citing recent stabbings in downtown. Abbott also criticized the Austin government for its homeless policy saying it needs to be reformed. Mayor Steve Adler says the city is safe and suggested Abbott needed to add more mental health clinics and substance abuse treatment facilities in the state.
