Funding Falls Short For Domestic Violence Drug Court Program

A proposed domestic violence drug court program is still in need of funding. Judge Rosie Speedlin-Gonzalez first suggested the creation of the court-supervised drug treatment program last year. She came up with the idea after more than ten-thousand domestic violence cases were on her docket in a year's time. She wanted a million-dollars for the two-year pilot program, but meetings with people in the community have prompted her to cut her request back to 300-thousand-dollars. She says that amount won't help enough people.
