SAPD sergeant attacked during family disturbance

A San Antonio police sergeant is recovering after a suspect in a family disturbance call attacked him on Wednesday. Officers responded shortly before 11 a.m. to a home on the city's West Side. The suspect reportedly struck the sergeant, who was trying to arrest him. Police say the intoxicated suspect then cut his own neck with a knife. The sergeant wasn't badly hurt, and the suspect was soon taken into custody. He's expected to recover from wounding himself. He's charged with assaulting an officer and sexual assault.
