Slain Houston Police Officer Remembered

A Houston police officer killed in the line of duty is being remembered as a hero.

Sgt. Christopher Brewster was a 9-year veteran of the department. He was 32 years old. He had just been promoted to sergeant earlier this year.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said, "Sgt. Brewster showed tremendous bravery til his final breath. After receiving what would prove to be a fatal wound, he displayed a will to survive. The presence of mind to radio in “shots fired” & provide clothing description. In doing so he alerted other first responders. As a supervisor he clearly led from the front, responding to a domestic disturbance call, one of the most volatile of all calls for service. There are no words at a time like this. We are simply left in awe of his heroism and selfless service. He must never be forgotten. And despite the evil and dangers law enforcement officers face daily, today countless officers will continue to suit up to protect our streets without a guarantee of returning home. They are all deserving of our admiration & respect. May he Rest In Peace."

25-year-old Arturo Solis has been charged with capital murder in the shooting.
