US Jobs Numbers Show Payrolls Surged In November

The US job market looked great last month, with the November Labor Department numbers showing tons of growth. Nonfarm payrolls surged by 266,000, the best since January, with the unemployment rate falling a tenth to 3.5 percent, the lowest since 1969.

Friday's figures exceeded economists' expectations, who thought we'd see unemployment stay flat from October while adding 187,000 jobs.

Elsewhere in the report, average hourly earnings rose by 3.1 percent over last year, with workers hours holding at 34.4 hours.
