The Border Patrol says they rescued over a dozen people from a human smuggling attempt in Texas. Agents were getting ready to inspect a tractor trailer at a checkpoint near Laredo this week when the driver sped off. The driver eventually stopped down the road and left the area. Agents had to break a seal to open the trailer, where they found 17 illegal immigrants. The group was from Mexico and Guatemala, and included nine children. No word on if the driver was found.
