Truckers Sue California Over 'Gig Economy' Law

California truckers are suing the state over its new so-called 'gig economy' law, which they say will cost 70,000 truckers their jobs.

The new law is aimed at providing benefit and wage protection to 'gig economy' jobs like Uber and Lyft drivers, by making it harder to classify workers as independent contractors.

But independent truck drivers say the law affects their ability to make a living. It's the first lawsuit challenging the new rules, which are set to go into effect Jan. 1st.
