The Astros gave pitcher Gerrit Cole a qualifying one-year offer of 17.8 million dollars. Cole is expected to reject the offer, but it guarantees Houston will receive a compensatory draft pick if he signs with another team. Cole is one of eight Astros to file for free agency.
