Texas A&M-Commerce is postponing a vigil to honor victims of a shooting in nearby Greenville. School president Mark Rudin says the decision was made today following discussions with students across campus. The vigil was supposed to happen at 4:00 p.m. Rudin also says A&M-Commerce is committed to the health and well-being of the community. Two people were killed and six wounded when someone started shooting at a homecoming party over the weekend.
An arrest has been made in the case. Brandon Ray Gonzales was captured at work at a Greenville area auto dealership. Gonzalez is being held on a million dollars bond.
Deputies are trying to figure out a motive in the shooting saying it's possible he was targeting just one person but decided to shoot others. Gonzalez is facing capital murder charges.
