Earlier this year, Florida passed a controversial law that bans so-called sanctuary cities and as of Tuesday, it's in full effect. The law prohibits Florida cities from having “sanctuary policies” that may restrict a law enforcement agency’s ability to work with federal immigration authorities.
The final section of the measure establishes penalties for elected officials who violate the law and can now be removed from office if they do.
