New Americans sworn in as citizens before the first pitch at Phillies game

Since baseball is known as this country's pastime, it's only fitting that the swearing-in of new citizens would take place at a game. Hailing from 11 different countries, 15 Philadelphia-area residents pledged their allegiance to the red, white, and blue on Sunday before the Red Sox took on the Phillies. While naturalization ceremonies are normally reserved for courthouses, the events have recently started taking place at more quintessentially American locations.

According to CBS News, over 700 people have become US citizens at ballparks this summer.
