Agreement keeps four area lakes from being drained while study is done

An agreement has been reached that will at least temporarily keep four Texas lakes from being drained. Attorneys for the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority and property owners came to an agreement that keeps the lakes from being drained for the next 30 days, while an independent panel of experts looks for solutions to safety concerns. While the lakes won't be drained during this time, they will be closed to all activity. The GBRA announced last month it wanted to drain Lakes McQueeney, Placid, Gonzales, and Meadow due to dam concerns. Today's deal would close the lakes until a third party expert sketches out safety zones.
