Gerrit Cole returned to the Astros' rotation and allowed two hits and struck out 12 in seven scoreless innings in a 6-3 win over the Tigers in Houston. It was Cole's first start since August 7th because of a sore hamstring. Alex Bregman belted a two-run homer. Michael Brantley had three hits, drove in two and scored twice. Roberto Osuna was summoned to get the final out for his 30th save. The Astros have won four-of-five. John Hicks and Niko Goodrum went deep back-to-back in the Detroit ninth. Jordan Zimmermann lost to fall to 1-and-9. The Tigers have dropped five-of-six.
