Barr Removes Acting Prison Chief Following Epstein's Death

Attorney General William Barr is removing the chief of the Bureau of Prisons after Jeffrey Epstein's suicide in a federal jail in Manhattan earlier this month. Barr said today he removed Hugh Hurwitz who had been the agency's acting director. The firing comes nine days after Epstein apparently hanged himself while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. The 66-year-old wealthy financier was found dead in his cell on August 10th. The FBI and Justice Department are investigating what Barr called "serious irregularities" at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan.
