Former Texas running back Cedric Benson killed in motorcycle wreck

Former University of Texas running back Cedric Benson has died following a motorcycle wreck. It happened on Saturday night in the 5600 block of Mt. Bonnell Road in Austin. Benson was one of two people to die in the accident. An unidentified woman also died. Police say a van was crossing an intersection and ran into their motorcycle. Family and friends confirmed his death.

Benson was a four-year starter for the Texas Longhorns and went on to be drafted by the NFL in 2005. He was the fourth overall pick for the Chicago Bears and later played with the Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers. He left the NFL in 2012.  Benson was 36-years-old.
