President discusses steps considered following mass shootings

President Trump says he wants to take common-sense steps to curb gun violence after the deadly mass shootings in Texas and Ohio. Talking with reporters at the White House, Trump said there is tremendous support for sensible gun background checks. He noted that he has been talking with congressional leaders, including Democrats. Trump said no one wants firearms in the wrong hands. He was asked about pressure from the NRA to avoid action on any gun controls. Trump suggested that, in the end, the NRA will either be on board with expanded background checks or will be a little more neutral.
