The state sales tax holiday is coming up next month. The weekend of tax-free back-to-school purchases is scheduled for Friday through Sunday, August 9th to the 11th. The law exempts certain items priced below 100-dollars from the state sales tax, including clothes, shoes, school supplies and backpacks. Shoppers save about eight-dollars on every 100-bucks they spend. The Texas sales tax holiday weekend first started in 1999.
