Tropical Weather System Still Possible In Gulf

The National Hurricane Center says there's a 90-percent chance that a low-pressure area will undergo tropical formation over the next two days. The low pressure is moving from the Southeastern states into the Gulf of Mexico sometime today. It will probably then develop into a tropical system in the Gulf. There's a possibility of heavy rain for areas of the Gulf Coast starting Thursday and continuing through the weekend. Some computer models are predicting landfall in Louisiana, but southeast Texas could still catch some rain.

There's an increasing chance of wind and storm surge impacts along the Gulf Coast from Louisiana to the Upper Texas Coast, and watches could be required for a portion of that area later today. However, it is too soon to determine the exact magnitude and location of these impacts at this time.
