Officials continue to be on high alert for illegal border crossings in the Rio Grande Valley. The Gateway International Bridge in Brownsville was closed briefly yesterday after border officials reportedly received a tip that a group of Cubans were going to try to enter the U.S. using the bridge. Local and federal law enforcement did a brief search around 11:45 a.m. and then reopened the bridge to traffic. The action comes after Customs and Border Protection shut down the McAllen-Hidalgo International Bridge twice on Wednesday.
