State Appeals Court Rejects Death Row Inmate's Latest Appeals

A Texas death row inmate's latest appeals aren't convincing to the state's highest criminal court. The Court of Criminal Appeals has unanimously rejected Rodney Reed's claim that his conviction for a 1996 murder in Bastrop County was based on false scientific evidence. The court also rejected Reed's claim of new evidence that would indicate Stacey Stites was actually murdered by her fiancé. Defense lawyers are reportedly considering taking the case to the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court.
