The 2019 Atlantic hurricane season begins today. This season is expected to be a near-normal one. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicts that there will be nine to 15 named storms. Four to eight of those are expected to be hurricanes, but only two to four will be major hurricanes. Major hurricanes are Category 3, 4, or 5. Even though hurricane season is just getting underway, there has already been one named storm: subtropical storm Andrea.
