The commercial production of hemp in Texas is a large step closer to reality. The state Senate on Wednesday passed a version of a bill earlier approved by the House that would allow Texas farmers to grow hemp, the non-intoxicating version of pot. The bill also allows hemp to be turned into finished goods in the state. Hemp fiber can be made into cloth and other items, and the plant produces CBD oil, which is popular for its supposed health benefits. Hemp is expected to be profitable for farmers and a source of tax revenues for the state.
