Border Patrol agents in the El Paso sector say over 17-hundred illegal immigrants were apprehended in one day last week. The immigrants came across the border in several locations from the bootheel region of southwestern New Mexico to El Paso last Thursday. Border Patrol officials say it is the largest number of immigrants to be taken into custody in a single day so far in the El Paso sector. Since October nearly one-hundred-ten-thousand immigrants have been taken into custody in the El Paso sector compared with 14-thousand in the same period a year ago.
