Americans Among Dead In Sri Lanka Attacks

New details from Sri Lanka say Americans may be among the dead in Easter Sunday's bombings. A tweet from French news agency AFP cities Sri Lankan hospital sources that say British, Dutch and American citizens are among the dead after several churches and hotels were bombed.  Reuters is tweeting there are more than 200 people dead and at least 450 injured in what Sri Lanka government officials say were suicide bombings in six of eight attacks. Several police officers are also being listed among the dead.

President Trump is tweeting about Sri Lanka. The President said on Twitter this morning, "Heartfelt condolences from the people of the United States to the people of Sri Lanka on the horrible terrorist attacks," and added, "We stand ready to help." Over 200-people were killed in today's attacks on churches and hotels in Sri Lanka. Some of the attacks are now believed to have been suicide bombings.

Pope Francis is condemning the "cruel violence" after several deadly explosions rocked Sri Lankan churches and hotels. Speaking to thousands gathered in Saint Peter's Square at the Vatican today, Pope Francis says he expresses his "affectionate closeness" to the Sri Lankan Christian community. The Pope said he found out about the Easter attacks precisely when the faithful were in church services to commemorate the holiday.
