1 Dems Demand Trump's Tax Returns, He Dismisses The Ask
House Democrats have made it official: they’re going to the IRS for President Trump's tax returns. Committee Chairman Richard Neal apparently sent a letter to the IRS demanding Trump's tax returns from 2013 through 2018. And not only is the committee requesting his personal taxes, but also tax returns from several organizations connected to the President. Trump has refused to release his tax returns, claiming they have been under audit. Added to that, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin [[mih-NEW-chin]] said in a recent Ways and Means Committee hearing that the department would follow the law and protect the President's tax returns just as it would do with any citizen. Either way, President Trump says he doesn't think he'll give in to the demands. Speaking at a White House photo op, Trump remarked that he's under audit, and as long as that's the case, he's not going to be inclined to provide that information. When asked about the situation about providing six years of returns, the President cracked, "Is that all? Usually it's 10, so I guess they're giving up.”
2 House Officially Denounces Trump Admin Moves On Healthcare
The Democratic-led House is officially denouncing the Trump administration’s moves on Obamacare. A non-binding resolution has been approved on a vote of 240-186. It condemns the administration for backing a federal lawsuit that seeks to eliminate the healthcare law. As we told you before, President Trump is holding off on the Republican replacement until after the election. He has also said he’s hoping that Obamacare will be fully repealed if the case reaches the Supreme Court. Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has called it a fight for the nation's values – and at least eight Republicans agree – they crossed the aisle to vote with Democrats for the resolution.
3 Felicity Huffman & Lori Loughlin In Court
Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin were among those who showed up yesterday in a Boston courtroom to answer to charges in conjunction with that now-infamous college admissions scheme. To review, the ladies who were recorded on wiretapped calls discussing the scheme with ringleader William Rick Singer – are accused of paying bribes to help get their kids into elite schools: Huffman, $15-grand....Loughlin, $500k. Felicity came with her brother, Moore Huffman Jr. Not seen? Her husband, William H. Macy, who hasn’t ben charged in the scheme (the two have reportedly hit a rocky patch since her arrest). Meanwhile, Lori and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli – who were both charged – came together.The judge didn’t keep either actress long. In Felicity’s case, he asked her if she understood the severity of the charges. She did, and since she’d already surrendered her passport, she was done. Lori reportedly came in greeting the prosecuting team with smiles and handshakes. After she and Mossimo surrendered their passports, they, too, were done for the day. If convicted of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud, the women each face a maximum of five-years in prison.
