There's good news and there's bad news at the gas pump this week, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
The bad news, the price of gas, which has been gradually going up for the last several weeks, continues to rise, due to several factors.
Gasoline stockpiles are still lower than usual, due to routing maintenance at refineries. In addition, the warmer weather and the coming of Spring Break has driven up demand for gasoline.
The average price of gas in San Antonio today is $2.17 a gallon.
“Gas prices continue to climb around the country, Texas included, to match prices similar to last year at this same time,” said Joshua Zuber, AAA Texas/AAA New Mexico spokesperson. “However, AAA does not expect this year’s national high to be nearly as expensive as last year’s peak price of $2.97.”
There is more good news. San Antonio gas prices have not risen at all in the past week. In addition, San Antonio currently has the lowest gas price in the state, and among the lowest in the country.
Try not to gas up in Midland. The west Texas city has the most expensive gas in the state, with drivers paying more than a quarter more than is being paid in San Antonio.
