UPDATE: Andre McDonald Arrested For Tampering with Evidence

USAF Major Andre McDonald was arrested Sunday evening in connection with the disappearance of his wife, 29 year Andreen Nicole McDonald, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Mrs. McDonald was last seen on Friday.

Sheriff Javier Salazar says the husband had been detained last night by Air Force officials after a bizarre attempt to purchase a handgun led them to worry about his mental state.

Early today, Salazar said investigators found a receipt in the couple's home on Wilderness Oak, in the Stone Oak area on the far north side, indicating McDonald had purchased items that would be used to destroy a body, including an axe, gasoline containers, a shovel, and a large bag. He says McDonald attempted to prevent the receipt from being seen, leading to the charge.

Salazar said investigators believe that Mrs. McDonald is no longer alive, and cadaver-sniffing dogs are searching fir her remains.

The couple has a six year old special needs child, who is being cared fir by relatives.

Salazar didn't say where investigators think the body may be located.

Friends of Mrs. McDonald held a vigil Sunday afternoon to remember her, and ask anyone who may have evidence that could help solve the case to come forward.
