A huge crowd of supporters were waiting for President Trump during a rally in El Paso, Texas. The President said building on a border wall in the area is just starting. Trump said a border wall is necessary to counter a growing threat. He also reflected on his recent State of the Union address. He said his agenda isn't a partisan agenda, but a mainstream, common sense one for the American people.
A short distance away, former Texas Democratic Congressman Beto O'Rourke was the keynote speaker at what was called the "March For Truth" rally. O'Rourke told the crowd that the city of El Paso is safe, not because of walls but because of the absence of walls. He claimed a wall would do more harm than good, noting that "walls don't save lives, they end lives."
