A two alarm fire destroyed an east side home early Saturday, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Firefighters rushed into the house at East Carson and North Palmetto about 2;30 and rescued an elderly couple inside.. They were treated for smoke inhalation.
A second alarm was called in to prevent the fire from spreading.. At one point, two dozen fire units were on the scene.
The house was destroyed. No word on a cause.
