A 70 year old man who was trying to walk across a darkened stretch of Babcock Rd. away from a marked crosswalk was run over and killed overnight, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police say the victim was rushed to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The SUV that hit the man did not stop, but a witness got the license plate.
About two hours later, the vehicle was found marked in the 900 block of West Elsemere Place, more than a mile from the site of the incident.
Police say the driver ‘admitted he had hit someone.’ Detectives are still trying to put together all the pieces.
