3 Charged with Tampering With Evidence in Missing Baby Case

San Antonio Police have charged three people with tampering with evidence in the case of missing 8-month-old King Jay Davila

During a news conference Thursday night, Police Chief William McManus said they charged the boy's father, Christopher Davila, the child's paternal grandmother Beatrice Sampayo and family member Angie Torres with tampering with evidence. The three are being questioned by police.

McManus said they have several statements from witnesses that lead police to believe that they staged the  kidnapping to cover up foul play and fear the baby may be dead.

Police said Sampayo was the one who dropped Torres off at the gas station and drove off in Christopher Davila’s car.  Torres described to police the route she and Sampayo took to dispose of the car seat. Torres also added that Sampayo said that Christopher  “severely injured” King Jay.

Tampering with evidence is a third-degree felony. McManus also added new  charges could arise, as they continue to continue to investigate.
