1 Manafort Lawyers Tip Their Hand In Mueller Investigation

Attorneys for former President Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort accidentally revealed yesterday that their client also stands accused of sharing polling data with a suspected former Russian intelligence officer. It seems his lawyers filed a document that was meant to defend Manafort against accusations that he lied to federal prosecutors, but failed to adequately redact sections of their filing. Those sections were meant to remain secret and reflect information that has not previously been disclosed. One section accused Manafort of sharing 2016 campaign polling data with Konstantin Kilimnik, a longtime business associate whom Robert Mueller has identified as a former Russian intelligence officer. Mueller also accused Manafort of lying about a text message from “a third-party asking permission to use Mr. Manafort’s name as an introduction in the event the third-party met” President Trump.  Special counsel prosecutors accused Manafort in November of breaking a plea deal by lying to the special counsel’s office. “Mr. Manafort provided complete and truthful information to the best of his ability,” Manafort’s lawyers wrote. “He attempted to live up to the requirements of his cooperation agreement and provided meaningful cooperation relating to several key areas under current government investigation.”

2 CA Woman Claims Navy Vet Son Has Been Held In Iran “For Months”

Iran has been holding an American Navy veteran in prison on unspecified charges since late July when he was captured while visiting his Iranian girlfriend, his mother said this week. The situation with veteran Michael R. White, 46, who's from Imperial Beach, California, could further complicate relations between the United States and Iran. The tension between the countries has gotten worse after President Trump renounced the nuclear deal with Iran last May and reimposed severe sanctions.  Ms. White said that she had filed a missing-person report with the State Department and that the Department of Homeland Security has been in touch with her about trying to locate him. She also said that before her son’s last visit to Iran, he underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatment for a neck tumor. At least three other American citizens, two of them of Iranian descent, have been jailed in Iran for years. Another American has been missing in Iran for more than a decade. There has been no mention of Mr. White’s incarceration in Iran’s state-run press.

3 Once Again, Drone Sighting Stops Flights At London’s Heathrow

A drone sighting is disrupting flights at London's busy Heathrow Airport. An airport spokesman said they were working with the Metropolitan Police and had suspended all departures as a precaution. The flights were suspended for about an hour just after 5:30 p.m. London time, leaving many passengers stuck on the runway. The latest incident comes weeks after drones caused similar interruptions at Gatwick Airport. British police are still investigating that case.  It was also announced this week that police would be given new powers to tackle the illegal use of drones.
