Severe Weather Threat for Wednesday

The wetter than usual end to 2018 will continue in the year's final week, with heavy downpours and hail possible Wednesday night into Thursday across a wide area from Del Rio to Waco to Galveston, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

The National Weather Service says the biggest threat is one to two inches of rain, which, due to the saturated soils, could lead to scattered street flooding.. The rain will be accompanied by wind gusts the could reach 60 mph.

There is a lesser chance of hail, even an isolated tornado.

The storms are expected to start forming over the San Antonio area late Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night, and continue into Thursday morning.

After the system blows through, the forecast is for much colder weather, as highs Saturday and Sunay won't reach te mid 40s.
