Not much has changed in regards to the forecast and we have included the email from yesterday below. We have updated the graphics to reflect small changes in the details and have attached them to this email. There is a dense fog advisory in effect for portions of the area until 10 AM. See the graphic for more information.
Headline:
Wind Advisory in effect for all of South Central Texas today and this evening.Red Flag Warning for critical fire weather conditions in effect for portions of the Rio Grande Plains, western Hill Country, and Winter Garden Regions today and this Evening. Elevated fire weather conditions expected elsewhere.Rain/Snow mix possible across the northern Hill Country tonight (primarily Llano and Burnet counties).
Area of Concern:
Gusty Winds: All of South-Central Texas, but the highest winds will be along the I-35 corridor west to the Rio Grande
Critical Fire Weather: Val Verde, Kinney, Uvalde, Maverick, Zavala, Frio, and Dimmit county.
Possible Snow Accumulations: Llano and Burnet counties
Threats & Impacts:
Wind (See attached graphic): Sustained winds of 25-35 mph with gusts of 40 to 50 mph are expected. Loose lawn decorations and trash cans will be blown around and small limbs could break. A Wind Advisory is in effect for the entire region on Thursday and Thursday evening.
Fire Weather (See attached graphic): Critical fire weather conditions will support rapid fire growth for any fires that develop across the Rio Grande Plains, western Hill Country, and Winter Garden regions. Elevated fire weather conditions elsewhere.
Winter Weather (See attached graphic): Trace to 1 inch of snow accumulation possible on mainly grassy and elevated surface in Llano and Burnet counties. A rain/snow mix could also occur across portions of Kerr, Gillespie, Blanco, western Travis, and western and northern Williamson counties with little to no accumulation expected.
Timing and Overview:
A strong upper level system will bring strong winds to all of South Central Texas behind a cold front this morning. Wind gusts between 40 and 50 mph will be possible. Despite recent rainfall, grasses are cured for the winter, and the combination of these wind speeds and marginally low relative humidity will support an elevated to critical fire weather danger today.
In addition, precipitation tonight could mix with or change over to snow across the northern Hill Country. The greatest chances for snow will be across Burnet and Llano Counties, where up to 1" of snow accumulation is possible on grassy and elevated surfaces.
