A man was found dead in a pickup truck, shortly after a report was received of shots fired at an apartment complex at Culebra and Potranco, near Ingram Park Mall, early today, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police say they were told about the sound of gunfire at the North Crossing Apartments about 1:30AM. Witnesses then saw the pickup take off at a high rate of speed down Potranco, where the driver lost control and slammed into a telephone pole, then careened into a ditch. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the Medical Examiner will determine if the victim died as a result of the crash, or due to a bullet wound from the shooting.
Officers say they have not found any other victims of the gunshots at the apartment, but are investigating.
