Dems Nominate Pelosi As Speaker Of House

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's ability to make deals is in full display after she secured the Democrats nomination to be Speaker of the House.  She is trying to become the second person to ever be speaker, go into the minority, and then regain the Speaker's gavel again.   Sam Rayburn did that in the 1950s.  Pelosi earned her caucus's nomination by cutting deals, including offering a committee chair to one possible rival and flipping other no votes with promises to focus on their priorities.  She earned 203 votes today.  She will need 218 when the full House votes for the Speaker on January 3rd.
